Baby’s hair is extremely fine and fragile. At birth, the epidermal layer on the scalp is very thin and still unable to fulfill its protective barrier role. It is dry, due to low sebaceous secretion, and thus the hydrolipidic film cannot provide effective protection. It is essential to offer optimally gentle care, in order to allow babies’ natural immune defenses to progressively develop.
